Off-Broadway’s acclaimed hit play “THOM PAIN (based on nothing) Announces Second Extension Through December 31st Producers Daryl Roth and Bob Boyett announce that the hit play “Thom Pain (based on nothing)”, which has been playing to SRO audiences since opening on February 1st, has been extended and will now run through December 31st. Starting on September 5th, the company will welcome T. Ryder Smith starring in the one man show. T. Ryder Smith received the 2005 Charles Bowden Award for Acting, presented by New Dramatists. New York credits include “The Gods are Pounding My Head”, “King Cowboy”, “Rufus Rules the Universe” (Ontological Theatre), “Underneath the Lintel” (Drama Desk Nomination-Outstanding Solo Performance). Mr. Smith will soon be featured in the upcoming film “Horrible Child” and has been seen on TV in “Law & Order” and several voices in the animated series “The Venture Brothers”. Will Eno received the Oppenheimer Award for his play “The Flu Season”. He is a Helen Merrill Playwrighting Fellow, a Guggenheim Fellow, an Edward F. Albee Foundation Fellow and was awarded the first ever Marian Seldes/Garson Kanin Fellowship by the Theatre Hall of Fame, for which he was nominated by Edward Albee. “Thom Pain (based on nothing) premiered in 2004 at the Pleasance Theatre in Edinburgh, Scotland and then transferred to the Soho Theatre in London in September of that year. In Edinburgh, the play won the coveted Fringe First Award, the Herald Angel Award and was cited by The Guardian as the best play at the Fringe. “Thom Pain (based on nothing)” is written by Will Eno and directed by Hal Brooks. The play was honored as a finalist for this year’s Pulitzer Prize for Drama. In reviewing “Thom Pain (based on nothing), the New York Times hailed Will Eno as “the Samuel Beckett for the Jon Stewart generation” and gave the play “Four Stars and an Extra!” Time Out New York has hailed it as “A Sublime Piece of Trickery”; the London Times calls it “Exceptional” and The Guardian “Astonishing!” Performances are Tuesdays through Fridays at 8 PM, Saturdays at 6 PM and 9 PM and Sundays at 3 PM and 7 PM.
